Techniques we use as part of the Design phase of a project include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Generation of CAD models using:
- Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) for increased accuracy of component details and features.
- 3D scanning of complex or larger components.
- Manual measurement (e.g. vernier calliper, micrometer, etc).
- Creation of a Digital Twin.
- Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Structural / Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation.
- Design optimisation.
- Generative design.
- Rapid prototyping.
- Design of patterns and moulds for casting components.
A summary of the Design Process we use is shown including the design steps taken in a typical project. It should be noted there are some activities completed aren’t shown in the illustration. Examples include, project definition, scoping and requirements gathering.
